U.S. Group Federal-Mogul, which already operates a disc brake unit in Ploiesti, continues its investments plans here. The company announced on Thursday that will start construction on a new factory in Prahova county this year, where will be manufactured windshield wipers components, hotnews.ro informs. The plant will be located within Ploiesti West Park, as well as the disc brake unit is also placed.
The plant, which is covering an area of 12,000 square meters, will produce car wipers components under Champion brand and will be completed by November.
According to Federal-Mogul representatives, 300 people will be employed in the new plant by next year, along with the other 300 persons who are already working in Federal-Mogul’s first factory in Prahova county.
The investment in the upcoming factory has not been made public, but the U.S. company stated that, to the existent investment of USD 58 million into the brake pads factory, it will further invest USD 9 million this year.
Last year, Federal-Mogul took over Honeywell’s Division of automotive braking systems, including the brake pads factory in Ploiesti West Park for which the American company has contracted a state aid from the Romanian authorities amounting to EUR 16 million. But so far, the company has received only a part of this aid.
For this new factory, Federal-Mogul has not requested any state aid.
