URBB posts record production in the first ten months – 2 million hectoliters

United Romanian Breweries Bereprod (URBB), which has in its portfolio Tuborg, Carlsberg, Skol, Holsten and Granini, announced on Monday that it has set a new record of production in Romania, exceeding the 2 million hectoliters threshold in the January – November period, an increase of 10 percent compared to the level of last year, as a press release informs.

At the same time, URBB’s consolidated turnover amounted to RON 650 million (gross), up 12 percent over the same period in 2016.

In the beer segment, URBB is recording a 10 percent growth rate over the same period last year, as the annual growth rate for the entire beer market in Romania is estimated at 2-3 percent, according to the Brewers of Romania Association data.

“This strong growth, more than three times the pace of the market, has been stimulated by several factors, the most important of which is the improvement of the presence of our products, exports, and especially the investments made this year,” URBB President Shachar Shaine said.

An essential role for URBB’s advance comes from expanding annual production capacity from 2.1 million hectoliters in 2016 to 2.4 million currently, and for which the company has allocated an investment budget of over EUR 10 million.

Moreover, URBB has increased the number of the employees nationwide by 10 percent compared to last year to 775, the press release reads.

URBB also announced that it has invested about EUR 2 million (about 20 percent of the total budget) in the implementation of a cleaning solution of beer cans.
