FMC Corporation, US chemical company providing solutions, applications and products for the agricultural, consumer and industrial markets worldwide, taps Romania, zf.ro informs.
Through its local subsidiary FMC Agro Operational Romania, officially launched last week, the agricultural giant will sell to Romanian farmers herbicides, insecticides and other plant protection products.
The company does not have production activities in Romania, but only in the agro-chemical trade, for which it has already hired a team of 25 people.
”FMC Agro Operational Romania was established on November 1, 2017 on the local market (…) We are at the beginning, a large part of the portfolio is from DuPont, including the old FMC products,” Vasile Iosif, Country Leader FMC Agro Operational Romania, who previously worked for 13 years for Du Pont Pioneer Romania, stated.
FMC has a “secured” market share in Romania after buying more products from the Du Pont Pioneer portfolio, another American corporation present in the domestic market since 2004, specialized in the marketing and production of certified seed.
For more than a century, FMC Corporation has served the global agricultural, industrial and consumer markets. On November 1, 2017, FMC acquired a significant portion of DuPont’s Crop Protection business, following a USD 77 billion deal. FMC’s 2016 pro forma revenue was approximately USD 4 billion. FMC employs more than 7,000 people throughout the world and operates its businesses in two segments: FMC Agricultural Solutions and FMC Lithium.
