US Fitbit to hire 200 people in Romania

U.S. wearable giant Fitbit family, sales leader of bracelets and watches smart globally, will work on the development of new products in Bucharest too, sources say for zf.ro.

The company with turnover of USD 2 billion last year decided to extend over five times in two years, the number of employees of its research & development center in the capital to 200. Currently, Fitbit has about 40 employees in Bucharest.

Fitbit will recruit software engineers with different specializations, given that Bucharest will not play as a support center, but will be directly involved in the research and development of product range activities, consisting so far of bracelets, watches and smart scales.

More exactly, Fitbit is looking for Engineering Manager, Software Manager, Workplace Coordinator, Test Engineering Manager, Cloud Software, Engineer, Android Software Engineer, Security Engineer, Data Storage Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer.

The expansion decision of the office in Romania is made firmly, the company already signed a contract to rent the second floor of the office building in Aviatorilor 8 from Victoriei Square in Bucharest.

At the beginning of this year, American Fitbit bought Vector Watch, founded by Romanian entrepreneurs Radu Georgescu and Andrei Pitis.
