Anholt Investment, a US investment fund, is to buy arable land in Botosani County from natural persons and is to pay EUR 1,500 per hectare, Ziarul Financiar informs.
The fund is to use its pre-emption rights in order to buy the land. The land is already used by the Americans through leasing contracts.
The investment fund entered the Romanian market in April 2014 and has acquired 6,000 hectares from the Austrian mogul Gerald Schweighofer and from a Danish company for EUR 11 million. The average price per hectare was of EUR 1,800.
The investment fund invests in arable land worldwide. It owns 23,000 hectares in Uruguay and Paraguay.
