Wendy’s opens restaurant in Mega Mall Bucharest
Wendy’s® officially opened its doors for the second time in Romania at Mega Mall Bucharest on 24 April with a vibrant, full-day launch celebration—and a heartfelt tribute to Romanian culture. With two restaurants now open in Romania, Wendy’s is excited to bring its fresh square hamburgers, chicken sandwiches and nuggets, and cool, creamy Frosty® treats to the Romanian public.
An the same time, Wendy’s will launch with a limited-edition Romanian-themed logo, where the iconic Wendy cameo will wear a traditional ie—the handcrafted Romanian blouse—set among authentic local motifs. The special logo also appears across dedicated packaging, created entirely in Romania, as a show of respect and commitment to local craftsmanship and culture.
Taking this one step further, John and Kathryn Chayka of JKC Capital, the franchise leaders of Wendy’s Romania, appear in a video message, both wearing traditional Romanian blouses, to personally welcome Romanian customers to Wendy’s. The video, accessible via a QR code on the new packaging, offers a direct and friendly message from the franchise leadership team, marking a unique moment in global QSR communications.
Wendy’s brought its signature energy and fun to Bucharest with a launch event featuring music, games, and social media activations. Hundreds of enthusiastic visitors gathered at the Mega Mall location to experience Wendy’s for the very first time, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement and community spirit.
As part of its commitment to quality, and known for its made-to-order menu and localized product offerings, Wendy’s in Romania proudly uses 100% fresh, Romanian beef and whole breast chicken, staying true to its global promise of “Fresh, Famous Food…Made Right…For You.” All ingredients are sourced with care to deliver the best in every bite.
“We’re excited to be in Romania—not just for this opening, but for the future,” said John Chayka, CEO of JKC Capital. “From the professionals we’ve partnered with to the vibrant culture and overwhelmingly positive public response, we’re inspired to build a long-lasting relationship here. The buzz on social media shows us that Wendy’s has found a warm welcome in Romania.”
With more restaurant openings planned and strong local partnerships in place, Wendy’s is just getting started in Romania.
