Who will perform the maintenance and mechanic service for the newly acquired F16 aircraft?
Aerostar SA company from Bacău will carry out debugging, maintenance and service for the F16 planes that are purchased from Norway, Rador Press Agency announces.
Romania has recently purchased 32 F16 fighter jets from Norway, the value of the contract being 388 million euros. These are in addition to the 17 combat aircraft purchased from Portugal. It should be noted that the two batches of F16 aircraft purchased by Romania from Portugal and Norway, 49 aircraft in total, will make the transition to fifth generation fighter aircraft, which Romania will purchase.
The director of Aerostar, Grigore Filip, says that Bacău is the only maintenance center in Romania for the F16. At the same time, the Aerostar company offers maintenance for the MIG 21 Lancer and the IAR 52. The same Aerostar company has a maintenance center in Iași for Boeing 737 and AirBus 320 civil aircraft.
