Wizz Air’s Bucharest base expands by new Airbus A321, two new routes to Memmingen and Castellon

Wizz Air, has announced on Tuesday the expansion of its Bucharest base by allocating a new Airbus A321 aircraft to its fleet, and the launch of two new routes to Memmingen in Germany and Castellón in Spain as well as raising frequency on six of its existing routes.

The new Airbus A321 aircraft will join Wizz Air’s Bucharest fleet in March 2019 and represents a further investment of USD 120million*, and will create 42 additional direct local jobs with the airline. With the arrival of the new state of the art modern aircraft in Bucharest, Wizz  Air’s fleet will grow to 11 aircraft, offering a total capacity of 4.3 million seats in 2019.

Starting in April 2019, one of the newest Wizz Air routes will connect Bucharest with Memmingen, Germany the authentic Bavarian town which offers a fascinating charm of the German countryside. The origins of the town go back to the Roman Empire. The old town, with its many courtyards, castles and patricians’ houses, palaces and fortifications is one of the best preserved in southern Germany.  Castellón, Spain Wizz Air’s other new destination – 144th destination in the WIZZ network – is one of the geographically and historically most diverse provinces on the Eastern coast of Spain. Mountains as well as endless beaches and historical sites all call for a visit.

the flight to Memmingen is available as of April 2, 2019, every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. The flight to Castellon will be available as of April 3, 2019, every Wednesday, Sunday.

The new aircraft will allow for frequency updates on six of Wizz Air’s current routes from Bucharest, including Dortmund, London, Doncaster-Sheffield, Bologna, Treviso and Eindhoven.

Wizz Air’s first Bucharest flight took off in 2012 and since then, the airline has become the leading carrier in Romania. In the first ten months of 2018, WIZZ carried more, than 7 million passengers on its low fare routes to and from Romania, which represents a 13% growth year over year. Throughout the country, Wizz Air’s operations this year will support more than 5,000 jobs** in associated industries.

WIZZ now offers 141 routes from Romania from its 10 airports with 30 countries. Tickets for the new routes are already on sale and can be booked from only RON 69 (one-way, including taxes and non-optional charges) on wizzair.com.
