Transport minister Ioan Rus informed on Friday that works at the bridge over Danube River in Braila-Galatia area would kick off next spring.
“We are starting to build the bridge over Danube-we’ll most probably test the option of creating a link under the Danube in Galati (…) The bridge was auctioned and the there is an auction’s winner, so next winter will be dedicated to feasibility studies, technical projects so that the actual construction works should start next spring. It is a project that it keeps starting for about 20 years,” Rus said.
The minister asked the National Highways and National Roads Company to identify together with local authorities the best options to link all Danube riparian cities, including Tulcea, to the bridge.
The Danube bridge project is included in the 2014-2020 General Transport Master Plan, amounting to a value of over EUR 246 million.
