Former tennis player, businessman Ion Tiriac, has said that one of the richest men in the world, sheik Hamdan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has promised ‘unlimited investments’ in Romania.
Tiriac plans to open a sports university in Romania, with the support coming from the United Arab Emirates, ziare.com reports.
“The head of government in Abu Dhabi, sheik Hamdan, was in our country, I wasn’t aware. Given that we know each other for a long time, and I’ve had the honour to be invited by him in Africa, for hunting, for weeks, he asked for me. He said: Romania has our support as much as it wants, when it wants, for unlimited investments.”
For them it is not important who pays for the coffee or who pays a billion, it’s the same thing over there. But everyone invests, invests to gain. Otherwise it is called charity,” Ion Titiac said for Telekomsport.
The Romanian businessman is ready to grant 50 hectares of land and contribute EUR 100 million for the university. He would need EUR 300 million more to complete the investment. Romanian authorities could not support the initiative for the lack of money. The source reads that sheik Hamdam could invest the rest of the money.
