CCR rejects President’s referral on the amendments to the Law on Administrative Organisation of Romanian Territory

The Constitutional Court has rejected, on Wednesday, the referral submitted by President Klaus Iohannis on the amendments to the Law on Administrative Organisation of Romanian Territory.

President Iohannis filed a referral of unconstitutionality on June 30 on the amendments and completion of Law 2/1968.

The head of state had noticed significant judicial differences and a different configuration between the forms adopted by the two chambers of Parliament. He stressed that one article voted by the Senate, the decision making chamber, has not been discussed by the Chamber of Deputies and is not provided in the final form of the document.

The President requested the Constitutional Court to admit the referral of unconstitutionality and to conclude that the amendment and completion of Law no. 2/1968 on the Law on Administrative Organisation of Romanian Territory is unconstitutional as a whole.
