CSM Bucharest defeated Norwegian team Vipers Kristiansand away 29-27 (14-14) on Saturday, in Group D of the Women’s Handball Champions League.
Serbian coach Dragan Djukic, appointed on Thursday at the helm of the Bucharest team, had his debut with the right foot on the technical bench, after two consecutive defeats in the championship against SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea and in the Champions League against SG BBM Bietigheim.
The Romanian champions started the match poorly, being led by 4-1 and 5-2. CSM Bucharest equalized in the 24th min. and took the lead 11-10, but at half time the score 14-14.
CSM Bucharest managed to take the lead 21-16, after four consecutive goals. In the 51st min., Vipers came close to one goal, 25-24, and the final was a tight one, but CSM won 29-27, although in the last two minutes had one player down.
CSM Bucharest is first in the standings with 4 points (3 matches), followed by SG BBM Bietigheim, 3 p (2 matches), FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria 2 p (2 matches), Vipers Kristiansand 1 p.
CSMB will play the next game on November 4 at home against Vipers Kristiansand.
