Code Orange for snowfall and blizzard in seven counties in central Romania. Rains in most of the country

The National Meteorology Administration has issued on Sunday two alerts for bad weather: a code yellow warning for rainfall and strong wind and a code orange alert for snowfall and blizzard, to come into force as of Monday.

Meteorologists have issued a code yellow alert for rainfall and strong wind to become effective as of Monday at 4 p.m. in Muntenia, eastern Oltenia and southern Moldavia. It will rain in these regions, with water quantities exceeding 25 liters/sqm and even 40-50 liters in some areas. The wind will be stronger in Vrancea, Buzau, Braila, Ialomita, Calarasi and Ilfov, reaching 55-65 km/hour. The alert expires on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Heavy rainfalls will also prevail in the Eastern and Southern Carpathian Mountains, in southern and eastern Transylvania and western Moldavia. It will snow in the mountains as well, with wind reaching 55-70lm/hour. Snowfall will also be reported in southern and eastern Transylvania and western Moldavia, with a snow pack laying down.

A code orange alert for abundant snowfall will be however in force in the mountain areas of Brasov, Covasna, Vrancea, Buzau, Prahova, Dambovita and Arges mountain areas. It will be snowing at large in those regions, with a consistent snow pack laying down. The wind will blast with 5-70km per hour, enabling blizzard and aggravating the road traffic. The code orange expires on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
