Former Tourism Minister Elena Udrea and former DIICOT chief, Alina Bica, have been imprisoned in the El Buen Pastor penitentiary, named since 2017 Vilma Curling Rivera, Costa Rican newspaper diarioextra.com reports.
The report reads that the two women spent lots of money in Costa Rica, probably money received from a compatriot. The article is titled: ‘The Romanians lived in luxury, had no occupation and no banking data. Corruption suspects received money every day’.
The paper informs that the two women lived in luxury flats in Pavas neighborhood, paid high rents, travelled by modern vehicles and went to the best restaurants in the western part of the Costa Rican capital to eat.
The Directorate for Information and Security (DIS) in Costa Rica has tracked the two Romanian women in the past months, in various parts of the capital city, and saw them being accompanied by various unidentified persons, the same source informs.
The investigators say none of the two women spent much time in the apartment, usually they used to leave the flats in the evening to go to other locations.
“They moved on daily basis” the journalists say, quoting the investigators. “They had several residences, they were seen in Curridabat, San Pedro de Montes de Oca and Escazu, but other details cannot be published, as the lawsuits are ongoing,” the sources say.
The officers also mention that Elena Udrea and Alina Bica are not registered with any kind of bank transaction, they haven’t even used an ATM, they paid only cash.
