CURS poll: Who’s the highest-rated presidential candidate?

According to a CURS opinion poll conducted during September 20-October 1, president Klaus Iohannis is favorite to win a second presidential term at the elections in 2019. 40% of the respondents would vote for Iohannis.

ALDE leader Calin Popescu Tariceanu, currently Senate Speaker, would get 29% of the votes, while PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea 13%.

Former PM Dacian Ciolos is credited with 10 per cent of the voting intentions, Kelemen Hunor with 2 per cent. 5 pc of the votes would go for another candidate.

As for the level of confidence in the local politicians, the same opinion poll says that Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea is the most trusted politician (50%). President Klaus Iohannis comes next (41%), and Calin Popescu Tariceanu third (37%). Former PSD premier Victor Ponta ranks fourth in the confidence index (34%). Liberals Ludovic Orban and Crin Antonescu get 23 per cent and 21 per cent respectively.

Ruling party’s chair Dragnea is not mentioned in the confidence ranking.
