The chief negotiator of the European Commission, Michel Barnier, will be in Romania on Tuesday and will have meetings with President Klas Iohannis, PM Viorica Dancila and the speakers of the Parliament, Liviu Dragnea and Calin Popescu Tariceanu, the EC Representation to Romania announced.
The main topic of discussion will be the preparation of the EU council Presidency, to be taken over by Romania on January 1, 2019.
„The EC chief negotiator will pay a visit to Bucharest on October 2, 2018, for the negotiations on the basis of Article 50,” reads the press release.
Barnier will meet President Iohannis, PM Dancila and the speakers of the two chambers of the Parliament. At the same time, the EC official will have talks with the MPs in the joint committees for European affairs and foreign policy and with the representatives of the joint special committee which coordinates the parliamentary activities needed for the preparations of the Presidency of the EU council.
