Two vehicles registered in Romania were involved in a road accident in Austria, resulting eight people injured, two of them in serious condition at the hospital.
The accident occurred on Monday, on A4 highway, on the direction to Hungary, in the Bruck ad Leitha region. Two persons in the van registered in Romania have been transported to the nearby hospital by helicopters, the other persons were slightly injured, stirile.protv.ro reports.
The accident took place as the driver of a truck registered in Slovakia slowed down due to the heavy traffic and a car registered in Romania did not stop in time and hit the truck, noen.at informs.
The two people injured were in a Romanian van, which in turn hit the two previously crashed vehicles. One of the injured persons was taken to Baden hospital, the other one to Eisenstadt hospital.
The traffic was interrupted for two hours, the same source informs.
The Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) says the diplomatic mission has undertaken steps to the local authorities for additional information regarding the state of the injured.
“The Romanian Embassy in Vienna is monitoring the situation and is in constant contact with the local authorities, being prepared to grant consular assistance, depending on the demands,” a MAE release reads.
