Romania’s electricity consumption has increased by more than 15% during the past two days as a result of high air temperatures.
Despite this development, the experts do not estimate that there will be problems with the electricity supply, a Transelectrica release reads.
“Given the high temperatures, the national electricity consumption was on June 12, 2018, at high values, with an average consumption of 8,058 MW during 13:00h-14:00h. For today, June 13, 2018, it is estimated that consumption will be by about 100 MW higher than yesterday,” the system operator informed.
By comparison, two weeks ago, daytime consumption barely reached 7,000 MW.
“We have not been and do not estimate problems, the power system works safely,” Transelectrica officials said.
In Bucharest, yesterday’s consumption exceeded 1,300 MW between 13:00h and 15:00h.
