eMAG online store has prepared total discounts of RON 220 million for the Black Friday edition this year, due on November 16, as well as 3 million products within 1,000 brands ranging from famous ones likes TVs, smartphones, laptops, household appliances, perfumes, or toys up to special items such as tourist packages, gold, cars, motorcycles, jewels, tickets and passes for events or medical services. Over 6,000 sellers in the Marketplace will join the Black Friday sales this year.
The delivery of the products will be available by November 28 by courier, in the eMAG showrooms, at the Post offices and in the new collection points Easy Box eMAG.
„Black Friday is for everybody, just for one day, November 16,” said Iulian Stanciu, CEO eMAG.
A year ago, 85% of the products put up for sale on Black Friday had the cheapest price in the entire year. This year eMAG expects the total value of the orders to mount to over RON 400 million, RON 40 M more than last year.
The Black Friday logistics this year is also endorsed by the new warehouse for large products built in a record time of 11 months. Stretching on an area of 126,000sqm (as 60 football fields altogether) and boasting a capacity of 2 million medium and larges-size products, it is the largest of this kind in the Central and Eastern Europe and has been operational for a few days.
CEO Iulian Stanciu says that eMAG and its partners have invested EUR 100 M the whole year to optimize the Black Friday event due November 16, with EUR 2.5 million investment in servers, hosting and cloud services.
Stanciu also stated that the online platform is not earning anything from the Black Friday event, the only gain being the potential new customers, estimated around 55,000.
The offer this year includes 50,000 TV sets, 76.000 de smartphones, 20,000 laptops, 21,000 refrigerators, 15,000 washing machines, 165,000 small household appliances, 235,000 de fashion items, 100,000 perfumes and cosmetics, 300,000 games and toys, 190.000 tires, 300,000 house and garden products and 30,000 sports items and equipment.
New special products available on Black Friday this year range from gold coins and bars of gold, cars and bikes, including a BMW 8 Series, luxury watches and jewels, tickets for sports competitions, including Formula 1 (Austria, Italy, Hungary) and at the Champions League Finals Madrid 2019, tickets for concerts (Metallica, Andre Rieu, Maroon 5, Electric Castle) to tourist packages, 19,000 overnight stays for summer and winter holidays, cruises and exotic trips or for amusement parks (Disneyland, Europa Park, PortAventura), as well as phone subscriptions, medical services, including deliveries, trips to castles or passes to escape rooms.
As for the questions related to how much the prices are really down on Black Friday and the fact that some products had lower prices before the Black Friday, CEO Iulian Stanciu explained that the e-commerce is a dynamic market and retailers can change prices for their products „even 10 times a day” depending on various factors such as the competition, the oil price or the market trends elsewhere in the world. However, he assured that the eMAG price is way below the minimum price of the competitors.
In terms of rate of return, Stanciu said it usually is around 1 pc for the standardized products and 20 pc at fashion items, standing at 3-4 pc on the average.
30 pc of the clients pay by card, while the rest of 70% by cash upon delivery, payment order or payment in the showroom.
„This year we estimate a rise in the payment card due to a special promotion that we’ll announce in the upcoming days”, Stanciu said.
