Meteorologists have issued a new code yellow alert for sleet, snowfall and strong wind to come into force in the southern country tonight until Tuesday at 15:00hr.
Moderate snowfall will prevail in most part of Oltenia region, Western Carpathians and in the west of Southern Carpathians, with a new snow pack lying down starting Monday night and until Tuesday morning. Glaze will form particularly in southern Oltenia.
Sleet will be widely encountered in Muntenia, especially on Monday night to Tuesday, then snowfall will prevail, with a new snow pack of 10-15cm in sight.
In Dobruja, there will be rains, snowfall, sleet and glaze frost, while the wind will blow by 50-55kmph and by 65kmph on the seaside.
However, during March 19 (13:30hr)-March 20 (20:00) precipitations like sleet and snowfall will seize most part of the country, while the weather will stay chilly all week long.
Forest, orchards in Satu Mare, got down by wind and freezing rain
The strong wind and freezing rain in the past days have put down hectares of forest in Satu Mare county, near Tarna Mare. Hundreds of trees have been brought down by the strong wind. Locals say they have never witnessed such thing.
Similar problems were also found in other areas of Satu Mare county. For instance, in Turt village, several orchards have been put down, while in Calinesti – Oas fallen trees have blocked the access road linking the village to the county road 19.
