Five medals for the Romanian team at the International Physics Olympiad 2018

Romania’s physics team has achieved remarkable results at the International Physics Olympiad 2018: one gold medal, two silver medals and two bronze medals, the Ministry of Education informs.

Thus, after the performance in 2017, Petru Cotruţ, student of the International IT High School in Bucharest, has won another gold medal.

Sabina Drăgoi and Ştefan Dolteanu, colleagues at the International IT Science High School in Bucharest, were silver medallists, while Cosmin Andrei (International IT Science High School in Bucharest) and Răzvan-Mihai Ursu (“Mircea cel Bătrân” National College in Constanta) won the bronze medals.

The 49th edition of the International Physics Olympiad took place in Lisbon, July 21-29, bringing together over 400 competitors from 90 countries. The first International Olympiad of Physics took place in 1967 in Poland, with the participation of 5 countries, including Romania. Our country hosted the competition twice (in 1972 and 1983).
