Flight ban for MIG 21 LanceR fleet – lifted

The flight ban for Romania’s MIG 21 LanceR fleet has been lifted, the aircraft had been grounded as a result of the accident at Borcea, Calarasi County, in which pilot Florin Rotaru died, Ministry of Defence representatives said on Tuesday.

Thousands of people were in the area and attended the events dedicated to the Open Doors Day at Base 86.

Flights of IAR 99 Soim aircraft are still banned until the investigation of the accident of the same type of aircraft in Nicolae Balcescu, Bacău County, is completed. Aboard the plane were the two pilots, both have survived.
