Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu has stated that the conclusion of the analysis on the opportunity of relocating Romania’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, is in the homestretch, also advancing several time frames for the presentation.
„We are in the homestretch to present the requested document”, the minister said on Thursdya when asked about the memorandum on relocating the Romanian embassy to Jerusalem.
Melescanu used to say on September 18 that he had received the last opinion from the ministry and that he is analysing the advantages and disadvantages on the relocation.
„The opinion will be presented to the political decision makers and a decision will definitely be taken then,” Melescanu used to say.
The Government and President Iohannis have different stances on this topic, with Iohannis stating in August that Romania’s stance on Jerusalem had not changed, meaning there is no intention of moving the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
