Romania’s football national team will play the match against Lithuania (November 17, in Ploiesti) counting for the UEFA Nations league, without spectators. The decision made by UEFA comes following the incidents during the match against Serbia, when some of the supporters lit torches and went on the pitch at the end of the game.
The announcement was made by the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) in an official release.
FRF has also been fined EUR 73,000 for the racist slogans chanted by supporters, the use of pyrotechnical material and for the fact that the spectators went on the pitch.
FRF informs it will request the reasoning from UEFA in order to analyse the opportunity to challenge the decision.
The first match for UEFA Nations League, Romania vs. Montenegro, was also played without supporters, following the sanctions concerning the EURO 2016 qualifying matches.
