Former Liberal chairman Crin Antonescu files documents to run for EP elections

Former Liberal chairman Crin Antonescu has announced he has filed the documents to join the PNL list for the European Parliamentary elections to be held next year.

“Today I have submitted the documents for the candidacy to the EP, on the normal circuit, set by the PNL decisions for any member,” Antonescu said on Tuesday.

Liberals can submit their candidacies for the European Parliament elections by October 1.

PNL chairman Ludovic Orban commented on the applications. “The signing up has started. We have a deadline for submitting the applications on October 1. I’m looking forward to see the candidatures. Mircea Hava, Dan Motreanu, Daniel Buda, Siegfried Mureşan, Cristian Busoi, Marian Marinescu have announced their candidacies. There are many colleagues who requested me to run, obviously many did so not because they love me. Some may have asked me because “if you do not get the score we expect, you will be responsible personally, others may have invited me to run, hoping to increase the party’s score,” Ludovic Orban has told Realitatea TV private broadcaster.

Asked if the first three names on the list of candidates for the European Parliament elections could be Ludovic Orban, Vasile Blaga and Crin Antonescu, the PNL leader argued that “it would not be bad” but he cannot give the answer right now.
