A friending and chat around application developed by a IT company from Iasi, eastern Romania, has been launched in Madrid, Spain this month, managing to gather over 50,000 users in the first week.
The app, entitled Floca, is to be also launched in Romania, according to the developers, Inovatie Alia from Iasi. The name Floca represents an acronym reuniting the main functions of the app: Friends Location & Chat Around.
In Spain, Floca aims at having over 100,000 active users on a monthly basis by the end of the year, in Romania the plans are for over 10,000 active users in the first month after launch.
According to a company’s press release, the programme enables the interaction among users through the chat and localisation function. „More precisely, any user can get in contact with other users in his/her proximity through the GPS system on his/her mobile phone, while being able at the same time to start conversations without any filter or barrier,” the release says.
The app is addressing to all those who want to meet new people, but also to those who want to stay in contact with their friends. The app could be at hand in case of crowded areas or events, such as festivals, as the localisation function is helping people stay in contact with the rest of the group.
And no wonder that the main target audience of the app are youngsters, aged from 17 to 24, but not only them. Anyone can use Floca, as its purpose is to get people closer in the offline.
The app is free of any charge and available through Google Play and AppStore.
