German hotel chain enters Romanian market

One of the highest rated hotels in Mamaia resort, which operated in the past eight years under Golden Tulip franchise, has changed its name to Zenith-Top Country Line-Conference & Spa Hotel after when, in January, became affiliated to German Top International Hotels chain, profit.ro informs.

In March 2008, the Reconstruction Capital II Limited (RC2) investment fund announced that has taken over 63 percent of Antares Hotels, the company that owned the Fantasy Beach Hotel in Mamaia. The investment fund has paid EUR 8 million to businessman Dumitru Becșenescu.

At that time also, the fund has appointed Peacock Hotels led by Paul Mărăşoiu as the consulting company and hotel management, to administer the hotel, which has functioned ever since under Golden Tulip franchise.

Peacock Hotels representatives said that quitting the Golden Tulip franchise is a strategic decision, because the property needs a more dynamic identity and a global distribution of its own profile. It has opted, therefore, for a solution of “rebranding” and repositioning in the market, given that is the largest hotel in Mamaia permanently open and fully operational throughout the year.
