Green light for Valcov’s prosecution, arrest

The Senate plenum on Wednesday passed the National Anti-corruption Directorate’s request regarding former Finance minister Darius Valcov’s prosecution and detention in a vote by ballot session.

The prosecution request received 120 votes over 18, with one vote annulled. The number of the present senators was 139 out of the total of 168 senators.

The preventive arrest request got 106 votes over 28, also with one vote annulled.

Darius Valcov is currently under house arrest in the influence peddling file.

Meanwhile, judicial sourced told Agerpres that Valcov would have given another 47 paintings of his art collection to the investigators. The same sources said the paintings have been already inventorized and taken by the representatives of a museum.
