Gymnastics: Romania fails to qualify to final in Glasgow

Women’s gymnastics team of Romania has failed to qualify to the teams’ final at the European Championships in Glasgow, another step back after the failure to qualify to the Olympics in Rio two years ago.

Romania has ranked 12th, and thus will not take part in the finals of the best eight teams.

Without Maria Ocolisan, injured during the official training, Romania’s team managed only two exercises out of 12. Denisa Golgota has qualified to the finals for floor and vault. As team, Romania obtained the best result in vault, the fifth, with 41.532 points.

With an overall of 32.866 points, Romania was ranked behind teams like Finland, Slovakia, Turkey.

In the teams’ final on Saturday will compete France, Russia, Belgium, Britain, Netherlands, Spain and Ukraine.
