Hearings in Liviu Dragnea’s file with the new 5-judge panel – postponed to January 21

The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) has postponed the hearings set on Wednesday in the DGASPC Teleorman file to January 21, 2019.

The new 5-judge panel has decided to postpone the hearings after the defence lawyer informed that one of the lawyers could not come to the court session due to medical reasons.

PSD leader Liviu Dragnea did not come to the court, being represented by his lawyer.

On December 13, the file on Liviu Dragnea was drawn to be judged by the 2nd 5-judge panel with the High Court. The panel is made up by judges: Simona Daniela Encean, Tatiana Lucia Rog, Alexandra Iuliana Rus, Luciana Mera and Rodica Aida Popa.

On June 21, the ICCJ 3-judge panel sentenced Liviu Dragnea to 3 years and 6 months in jail with execution for instigation to abuse of office in the DGASPC Teleorman file, regarding the fictitious employment of two employees, Adriana Botorogeanu and Anisa Niculina Stoica.

The ruling is not final and was appealed.
