The judges of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) announced on Thursday that they have referred the Constitutional Court on the issues of unconstitutionality contained in the draft law amending the Criminal Code.
The Opposition – PNL, USR and PMP – has also notified on Thursday the CCR on the draft law amending the Criminal Code, arguing that over 30 articles are unconstitutional, including the one on abuse of office and the abolition of the article on negligence in office.
President Klaus Iohannis criticized the amendments to the Criminal Code in Parliament and announced that he would challenge the Criminal Code to the Constitutional Court. He also said that “it is simply inadmissible” how the PSD has transformed the parliamentary procedures.
On Wednesday, the Chamber of Deputies adopted the draft amendments to the Criminal Code, with 167 votes for and 97 against, 19 abstentions, as decision-making body, after it was passed by the Senate.
