Some hundreds people have protested on Monday evening against the emergency ordinance announced by the Justice Minister to help all those people that had been sentenced by “illegally constituted judge panels”. The GEO would practically allow the defendants convicted by the High Court’s 5-judge panels to challenge the sentences.
“No more offenders“, “The Government is all of us, you and me”, “We want early elections“, were some of the messages displayed by the protesters. They also shouted: “Nest of thieves and mobsters“, “Resignation“, “Down with the Ordinance!”.
102-year-old philosopher Mihai Sora was also among the protesters, after he had called people to take to the streets right after the ordinance had been announced.
“Tudorel has announced at the TV station owned by the runaway defendant Ghita that he had prepared the Emergency Ordinance that is cancelling 370 sentences, among which there is also Dragnea’s. It is unacceptable. We protest”, reads the Facebook page of the event.
Around 200 people also protested in Cluj-Napoca, chanting “No amnesty, no pardon“, “United we save Romania“, “Shame on you“, “PSD, the red plague”, “Early elections“, “Thieves, thieves“.
