Hungarian company Terran opens first factory in Romania following EUR 5 M investment

Hungarian-owned building materials group Terran, one of the main leaders on the roof tiles market in Eastern Europe, has inaugurated a concrete tiles factory in Campia Turzii, Cluj county on Wednesday, the first one in Romania, following an investment mounting to around  EUR 5 million.

The plant in Campia Turzii is the fourth unit that Terran owns, next to the ones in Hungary and Slovakia.

The first Terran factory in Romania, built on the premise of a former wire plant in Campia Turzii, is fully automated, using the latest cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. The concrete tiles made here will be sold on the local market, in a first stage.Hungarian company Terran opens first factory in Romania following EUR 5 M investment

Stretching on a 2,500sqm area and having a 1.5-hectare warehouse platform, the factory has a production capacity of 70 tiles per minute, with an annual capacity of 10 million units.

The manufacturing process also envisages that the ecological raw materials should be re-used following a recycling procedure.

We are in Romania since 2005, and the very good sales registered and the size of the local market have been crucial factors to build a factory here. The investment kicked off in 2016 by purchasing the land and the production tests started in the spring this year. We plan to continue investments next year to expand the production capacity with two more ranges of products,” said Gódi Attila, Terran General Manager.
