Iasi Mayor, Mihai Chirica, says PSD leader Liviu Dragnea is “a Nero who sees no other option to abandon the throne: to burn down the city,” the city being Romania. In his opinion, the social-democrat chairman should resign, following the seizure on his wealth.
“He shouldn’t withdraw, it’s not football to withdraw and play the farewell match. He should resign. The mess Romania is facing and PSD is facing is his 100 percent. He should resign in order not to be dismissed,” Chirica said, according to ziare.com.
“This is the decision of honour, considering that Romania is on downward trend, in chaos, politically and administratively. I don’t believe the chaos can govern right now,” Mayor Mihai Chirica said on Wednesday after a sitting of the local council.
In his opinion thing are going bad due to the ambitions of a single person.
“Currently, we are talking about the country’s direction. We’ve managed, with great velocity, to bring the national currency to the lowest level against euro. What can we say? Things are going bad, so whereto means downwards, unfortunately, in line with the ambitions of a single man. I believe Nero is reborn, Emperor Nero who sees no other possibility to abandon the throne than to burn down the city, a city which is called Romania and it’s a pity we reinvent poor pages of the history of Europe. I hope he makes a wise decision,” the Iasi mayor said.
The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) has seized on Tuesday goods belonging to Dragnea worth RON 127 million (EUR 27 million) in the Tel Drum file.
