Japan-based Nidec inaugurated the largest electric motor factory in Romania

Japanese Nidec has inaugurated on Thursday, in Stefanesti, Arges County, the largest electric motor facility in Romania.

”One reason we decided to open a production capacity here was that we believe that it is a good business environment in Romania. The second reason was to find the right space to grow the business,” said Valter Taranzano, CEO of Nidec Global Appliance Division, during the inauguration ceremony of new production unit.

He added that in the Stefanesti factory, an investment of several tens of millions of euros to date, 500 people are already working, and in two years the number of employees is expected to exceed one thousand, even if the staff is more and more difficult to find.

Shigenobu Nagamori, Nidec founder  also referred to the difficulty of finding qualified staff, which is why it was decided to automate a large part of the production process.

Ambassador of the United States of America in Bucharest, Hans Klemm and Japan’s Ambassador, Kisaburo Ishii have also attended the inauguration ceremony.

Nidec Motor Corporation Romania was established after the Japanese electronic parts maker has acquired in 2016 approximately 94.8 percent of the shares of Ana IMEP S.A., the Romanian washing and drying machine motors manufacturer, own by businessman George Copos.
