Judges’ Forum calls on Ombudsman to immediately refer to CCR the amendments to the bill on judicial organisation

The Judges’ Forum Association in Romania requests Ombudsman Victor Ciorbea (photo) to ‘immediately refer’ to the Constitutional Court in regard to the amendments brought to Law 304/2004 on judicial organisation, because “some of the legislative measures included in the amendments are contrary to the recommendations made by the Venice Commission and endanger Romania’s path as member state of the Council of Europe.”

The judges’ request comes after the statement made by President Klaus Iohannis, saying that he is forced to promulgate law 304/2004 regarding the judicial organisation, hotnews.ro informs. The head of state requested Parliament to amend the normative act during the autumn session, along with the other bills referring to the judicial system, according to the recommendations made by the Venice Commission.
