Justice Minister, Tudorel Toader, has announced he will meet on Thursday, in Strasbourg, the representatives of the Venice Commission, as of 15.00h.
Asked why he did not take into consideration the Venice Commission’s opinion in setting up the special section for investigation of magistrates, Minister Toader said any law could be amended.
“Tomorrow (on Thursday – our note) I will be at the Venice Commission offices in Strasbourg. The constitutional norms, the validation by the Constitutional Court, confirm us saying the legislative solution is in accordance with the constitutional exigencies. Further on, the bill, as any law, is improvable and can be amended, as it was the case of Law 304/2004, which was amended repeatedly and declared unconstitutional,” the Justice Minister said.
The Government adopted an emergency ordinance on Wednesday for the establishment of the special section for investigation of magistrates, stipulated in the amendments to the Law 304/2004 on judiciary organization.
