Electrifying. Memorable. Luscious and entertaining. Irresistible. Unmissable. Impossible to sit down for – this was, in a few words, the 2017 Bucharest concert of the Postmodern Jukebox band, the definitive proof that, when passion and talent meet, music once again takes on meaning and significance.
As the experience of a Postmodern Jukebox concert will never be the same as a previous one, the internet’s musical phenomenon return to the Sala Palatului stage in Bucharest for a third consecutive year, on May 16th, 2018. With a collective of artists who reinterpret musical genres, literally and figuratively, transcending barriers and generations with their unique and unconventional approach to each song in their repertoire, Postmodern Jukebox aim to surprise their audience once again through a spectacular concert, according to concert organizer Events.
Combining Miley Cyrus’ party of the century feel or Radiohead’s minimalist anxiety with the warmth of styles from long before these reinterpreted artists’ parents were even born, Postmodern Jukebox reimagines contemporary genres like pop, rock and R&B in notes of swing, doo-wop, ragtime or Motown, every week. Beyonce, Lorde, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, Guns’n’Roses and The White Stripes – these are only a few of the artists whose music was approached from a unique retro angle and transformed into a viral and timeless success, every song a bridge across generations.
More than 70 member artists, over 925 million views, 3.2 million subscribers, hundreds of sold-out shows worldwide – this is the band that started, nine years ago, as a group of friends whose source of fun was doing covers in the living room and posting them on Youtube, and now aim to once more fill Sala Palatului’s seats for an unforgettable artistic performance, making the audience feel as if on the red carpet, or partaking in the most sensational ’20s and Great Gatsby-style party. Postmodern Jukebox promise a new enchanting experience, one that people who haven’t seen it in previous years are not to miss again, and where those who have lived it before are guaranteed to feel as if attending their first Postmodern Jukebox concert all over again.
