Social-democrat chairman Liviu Dragnea said on Wednesday that “he is seriously considering whether the pardon law is still opportune” and has announced that he will bring to a halt the pardon draft bill at the Chamber of Deputies until the Government sends to Parliament the entire package of the laws on justice. Dragnea also said that “the PSD priority is to apply the governing programme and not to pardon the corruption deeds,” thus motivating Serban Nicolae’s replacement from the helm of the Senate legal commission, hotnews.ro informs.
“I make a last appeal to the government and to the Justice Ministry to say within a reasonable amount of time if the pardon law can solve the problems in penitentiaries. I’m personally interested in how the law comes out from the Senate, when it arrives at the Chamber of Deputies I will not let it go until I’m sure it’s part of a package that solves a problem,” Dragnea said.
Dragnea criticized the ministers who made statements about child allowances without the subject being agreed by PSD, announcing that Lia Olguta Vasilescu received a “verbal rebuke”.
