The number of deaths caused by measles climbed to 35, according to the National Public Health Institute. TVR reported it’s about a 39-year-old person from Brasov.
Other news agencies revealed the victim was a nurse at the Hospital for children in the city. She got sick in September, but the disease led to serious complications and eventually to measles meningitis.
Although there are rare cases at adults, the patient developed the most serious complication of the virus. She was in coma for days and she eventually died because of the complications.
It was the first death case registered in Brasov.
According to statistics, nine died because of measles in Timis, seven in Dolj, six in Arad, three in Caras Severin, and one in each of the following counties: Bihor, Brașov, Călărași, Cluj, Neamț, Satu Mare, Vaslui, Galați, Mureș and Bucharest.
The total number of confirmed measles case in Romania reported until Friday is 9,670.
Measles case have been registered in 41 counties, the only county with no measles cases being Tulcea.
