Medicover – a leading provider of private healthcare and diagnostic services in Romania has signed an agreement to acquire the Phoenix Medical Centre, one of the leading private providers of healthcare services in Oltenia. The acquisition supports Medicover’s expansion strategy by establishing a strong footprint in the South-West region.
“This acquisition marks an important step for Medicover to grow our presence in the South West region. We’ve been looking at the area for a while and we are pleased to have found the right partner in Phoenix Medical Centre. We now have a strong network and can make high-quality private medical services available to more people,” says Adrian Peake, General Manager, Medicover Romania.
“This is the third acquisition in the past six months and we continue with our growth strategy both organically and through acquisitions,” he added.
Phoenix Medical Centre is an established private medical operator in Oltenia and operates a network of eight medical centers in Craiova, Târgu Jiu, Slatina, Calafat and Drăgășani.
When finalised, this will be the third major transaction for Medicover in Romania in 2018. In the first half of the year Medicover announced the acquisition of Pelican Hospital in Oradea and Academica Medical Centre in Bucharest.
Medicover, an international healthcare and diagnostic services company, listed in Sweden on Nasdaq Stockholm, recently reported a 17.2% increase in Romania revenue for the first half of 2018, compared to the same period last year, of EUR 42.2 million. Medicover is present in Romania through the Medicover medical network and Synevo laboratories and blood drawing points.
