Motorized march from Moldova and Transylvania to Bucharest, scheduled on Saturday, to demand the completing of infrastructure projects

Hundreds of cars from several counties from Moldavia, as well as from Transylvania, will start Saturday, May 19, a motorized march to Bucharest to request the speeding up of the two major motorway projects for Moldavia: A8 Târgu Mureş – Tg. Neamt – Iasi – Ungheni and A7 Suceava – BaMotorized march from Moldova and Transylvania to Bucharest, scheduled on Saturday, to demand the completing of infrastructure projectscau – Focsani – Buzau – Ploiesti. The two major projects, included in the Transport Master Plan, have been delayed for years by the transport authorities: cancelled contracts, failed auctions, dozens of deferred deadlines for design., hotnews.ro reports.

The organizers of the protest call for a meeting with Romanian Prime Minister, Viorica Dăncilă, and Transport Minister, Lucian Şova, to receive firm official guarantees and a roadmap with deadlines and clear actions to unlock the construction of the A8 and A7 motorways, needed for interregional development.

“Hundreds of cars from several counties – Iasi, Vaslui, Neamt, Bacau, Suceava, Botosani, Galati, Vrancea, but also from Brăila, Buzău, Harghita and Mureş, will go to the Victoria Square as final destination, expected to arrive after 17:00h. The departure from Iasi will take place on Saturday, at 7:00h, from Unirii Square,” is the announcement made by the organizers, the associations ‘Together for the A8’ and ‘Moldavia wants a highway’.

For the A8 Iasi – Târgu Mureş motorway, the one that would connect Moldavia to the European routes, two feasibility studies have been cancelled so far, the situation being at zero point, after 11 years, exactly as in 2007, the organizers say.

For the A7 Motorway (or Express Road, the Government has not yet decided on the category), the auctions for the feasibility studies have been postponed 16 times in 5 years! Two days ago took place the latest postponement – May 15, 2018 was the deadline for the assessment of the offers on the A7 highway section Buzau – Focşani. It was postponed for the 16th time! The new deadline: July 16, 2018, the above mentioned organizations say.
