Net average wage earnings up by 8.7pc in March

The net average wage earnings increased by 8.7% in March to RON 2,704, up against the previous month by RON 217, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informed on Wednesday.

The gross average wage earning was of RON 4,488, by 8.7% higher than in February 2018.

The highest levels of the net nominal average wage earnings were registered in IT – RON 6,689 and the lowest in hotels and restaurants – RON 1,541.

The state employees had their revenues increased due to the enforcing of the legal framework on the staff paid from public funds, in health and social work (+22.3%), education (+18.4%). A slight increase of the net average wage earnings was registered in public administration (+1.3%).

As compared to March the previous year, the net average wage earnings was higher by 15.5%.

The real wage earnings index was 110.1% against the previous year. The real wage earnings index was 108.4% in March 2018 against the previous month. As compared to October 1990, the real average wage earnings index was 195.7%, by 15.1 percentage points higher than in February 2018.
