In January – March, Orange Romania registered a turnover of EUR 270 million, up 11.1 percent over the same period last year, according to the financial results reported by the Group.
Growth was mainly driven by positive developments in mobile data usage, mobile device sales, and converged services. According to a press release, Orange Romania offered mobile, fixed and TV services to 10,449,000 customers on March 31, 2018.
At end-March, more than 3.3 million Orange customers used Orange 4G services, nearly 40 percent more than in the first quarter of 2017, with the 4G network covering 93.4 percent of the country’s population.
Mobile data traffic grew by 85 percent in Q1 year-on-year, while 4G traffic increased by 3 times.
”This evolution is supported by smartphones sales and continuous investment in 4G and 4G +”, the release reads.
In this respect, plug-in devices sales recorded a 70 percent increase in the first quarter of this year, compared with the similar period of 2017. Increased interest is also seen with home-connected items, where sales have increased 5 times compared to the first quarter of the previous year.
At the same time, at end-March, Orange Home TV service drew 418,000 customers, up 22 percent compared to Q1 2017, while fixed broadband services had over 210,000 subscribers, up 65 percent. In the first quarter of 2018, 95,000 customers chose the fixed-mobile services from Orange, nearly 6 times more than in the previous year.
