The parliamentary committee investigating the presidential election in 2009 has asked the Justice Minister to conduct checks about the way Prosecutor General Augustin Lazar is meeting his attributions.
The notification is related the Prosecutor General’s refusal to deliver to the committee the file concerning the presidential elections in 2009, a file classified in June. The investigating committee has asked twice and each time it was refused, digi24.ro informs.
The parliamentary committee asks the Justice Minister to conduct checks and to notify the Judicial Inspection on the way the Prosecutor General answered the committee’s requests, claiming Augustin Lazar has violated the principle of collaboration between the Public Ministry and the Parliament, as well as the Constitution.
Prosecutor General Augustin Lazar sent on Monday a notification to the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) chairman, Mariana Ghena, asking the council to tell him if he can submit to the parliamentary committee copies of the classified file regarding the 2009 presidential elections. He has also requested CSM to analyse the option to notify the Constitutional Court on a likely judicial conflict between Parliament and the judicial authority.
