PM Viorica Dancila has appointed Romulus Sever Stana in the position of Bucharest prefect, Government spokesperson Nelu Barbu has announced on Wednesday, at the end of the first Government sitting this year.
Stana used to the the adviser of District 6 mayor, Gabriel Mutu, and in the past he worked as counselor at the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority.
District 6 mayor of Bucharest, Gabriela Mutu told news agencies that the new prefect of the Capital, Romulus Sever Stana, his former adviser, is suitable for the new position, as he is “very professional”.
Sever Romulus Stana’s appointment comes after the former Bucharest prefect, Speranta Cliseru had been dismissed in December last year, by a government resolution initiated by the Interior Ministry.
The name of Speranta Cliseru has become famous following the violent intervention of the gendarmes during the Diaspora rally in August 10, 2018. Cliseru, close to the Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea, embarked on a row with the Interior minister, Carmen Dan, on the intervention of the riot police (the Gendarmerie) against protesters.
Gabriela Firea, the mayor of the Romanian Capital, has also lost all positions in the Social Democrat Party following a conflict with the party chairman Liviu Dragnea.
