PM Viorica Dancila sued by satire website ‘Times New Roman’

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila gas been sued by the editor-in-chief of the satire website ‘Times New Roman’ for image damages resulted from her performance as Premier. The lawsuit comes after Viorica Dancila sued the website for an article titled ‘Dragnea’s whore, assaulted by PSD members’ and called for damages amounting to EUR 100,000, realitatea.net informs.

“After the Pristina-Podgorica episode, at the pressure of common sense and upon the advice of my lawyer, Radu Sora, I have decided to sue Viorica Dăncilă. This is the same file in which Viorica Dăncilă asks me and my colleagues at ‘Times New Roman’ for EUR 100,000 because I said about her, in an article, that she is stupid. I want to stress that I did not want to be in such a conflict, but it is just a response to the absurd request made by Viorica Dăncilă. It is not only outrageous, but also Kafka-like that Viorica Dăncilă requests damages of EUR 100,000 for an article that was online for two days, while she has been staining my image as Romanian and my dignity since January 21, 2009, as MEP and since January 29, 2018 as Prime Minister of Romania,” writes Călin Petrar, editor-in-chief of Times New Roman.

Prime Minister, Viorica Dancila, made another blunder in late July, during the visit paid in Montenegro, a diplomatic one. While in Podgorica, capital of Montenegro, Dancila said during the press conference she is glad to be in Pristina, capital of Kosovo. “I am glad to be here, in Pristina, during my first visit to Montenegro,” she said.

In early May 2018, Irina Tănase, the life partner of PSD leader Liviu Dragnea, Premier Viorica Dăncilă, Mayor of Bucharest Gabriela Firea and Ministers Carmen Dan and Lia Olguţa Vasilescu, sued the Times New Roman website, in a file of offence liability. They demand EUR 500,000, in total, as moral damages. The file has been assigned to the judges of the Bucharest Court.
