PNL Chairman, Ludovic Orban, will attend the Christian-Democratic Union (CDU) congress in Hamburg, during December 7-8, which is to elect the new party leader.
“On this occasion, the PNL chair will have bilateral talks with CDU leaders in view of consolidating the relations between the two parties within the European People’s party (EPP). The PNL chairman’s visit also aims to promote the objectives on Romania’s agenda at European Union level, such as the accession to the Schengen area,” a release from the party issued on Thursday reads.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced in early October she would not run for a new mandate of CDU chairman. The election of a new leader is to take place on December 8.
