Policewoman shoots her mother, her 6-month baby, then kills herself

A policewoman from Targu-Jiu has shot her mother and her 6-month baby boy to death, then she killed herself in Balesti, Gorj county. The baby has been initially wounded from the shooting, but unfortunately he died in hospital.

The woman was working at the Rail Transportation Police and her husband is police officer as well at the Police in Matasari. She and her husband had recently moved to Balesti locality. Her husband was out of town on Sunday, when the tragedy occurred.

The policewoman was on maternity leave. Sources from the police told media the woman had had a serious breakdown after the childbirth. The sources also said that she had used the gun of her husband.

“A policeman working at the Matasari Police section has called 112 announcing that his wife, police agent at the Rail Transportation Police in Targu-Jiu, hired in 2006, had shot her mother to death in her chest, then she had shot herself in the head, using his gun. Policemen also found in the house a six-month baby, who had been transported to hospital, with injuries at his head. The policewoman was found lying near the entrance door of the house, with the gun next to her, while her mother was found in bed, in one of the rooms,” informs the Police.

The General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police announced on Monday that the last time the woman had run a psychological test was in May last year, before going on maternity leave.

A psychologist said that the policewoman had an undiagnosed postpartum depression. A friend of the woman disclosed that the woman was sad all the time and extremely concerned for her baby, as she was scared the baby would get sick.

The policewoman’s colleagues stated that she was an exceptional person, she had never disturbed anyone and respected everybody.
