51 pc of Romanians believe new parties are needed, opinion poll says. PNL and PSD would get 34-35 pc of votes next Sunday
More than half of Romanians believe that new parties are needed and that the current parties represent their leaders interests, according to a survey conducted during December 2-6.
Thus, 51% of Romanians argue that our country is in need of new political parties, and 44% say there is no need, while 5% did not answer.
– 70% believe that the current parties represent rather the interests of party leaders. 6% of respondents said that the current parties represent the voters’ interests, while 19% believe that they represent the interests of voters and of their leaders in a balanced way, and 5% did not know or did not respond.
– 60.5% of Romanians believe that parties can reform themselves, while 31% think the opposite.
– 41% of Romanians would vote if elections were held next Sunday.
– 35% of respondents would vote for the PNL, 34% for PSD, 7.5% for MP, 6.5% for ALDE and 5% for PRM. Parties that would get below 5% of votes: UDMR (4%), UNPR (2.5%), PNŢCD (2.5%), M10 (1.5%) and PSRO (1.5%).
– If the list would include a newly set up party supported by President Klaus Iohannis and by Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, 41% of respondents would vote for other parties, while 35% said they would opt for this party. 11% said they were undecided, 8% would not go to the ballot, and 5% did not answer.
– 41% of respondents believe a good solution would be that Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos becomes PNL president. Also 41% think it is a bad idea that the current prime minister becomes the Liberals leader.
The survey was conducted by the Political Rating Agency during December 2-6 on a representative sample of Romania’s population of 950 people, with telephone interviews and it has an error of 3.2%.
